From village to commuter town
Flitwick was a village until the railway came. Today its Thameslink station puts London within an hour, and the town has grown to match.
Most homes date from the 1970s onwards, with newer estates and apartments around the station and the town centre. Flitwick Moor and the River Flit give it a greener edge, and older cottages survive around Church Road and in the nearby villages.

Sealing new windows the right way
A new window is only as weatherproof as the joint around it. Expanding foam isn’t a weather seal, and a thin bead over a deep gap won’t last. We fill deep gaps with backer rod first, so the sealant is the right depth and can flex.
At the head, we pay particular attention to where the flashing or lintel meets the frame, because that’s where water collects first.
Walk-in showers kept watertight
A walk-in shower has long runs of sealant at floor level, where water sits longest. We use a sanitary silicone with mould resistance built in and shape the bead so water runs off it, not along it.

Flitwick sealant questions
Our window frames were never properly sealed by the builder. Can you finish them?
Yes. We see this a lot on newer homes: frames fitted with foam and a thin bead, or gaps left at the head. We clean the joint, fit backer rod where it’s needed and seal the perimeter properly in a colour to match.
Do you work in the evenings for commuters?
Our hours are Monday to Friday 8:00am to 6:30pm and Saturday 9:00am to 4:00pm. External jobs don’t need you home, and for internal work we can usually arrange a Saturday slot.
