The joints round a worktop do a lot of quiet work, and when they fail the damage is out of sight. Our team applies worktop sealant and splashback sealant in kitchens, utility rooms and boot rooms, closing joints against water, crumbs and grime.
Where worktop joints fail
Worktops take spills, steam and everyday wear. The joint along the wall is at the back where you rarely look, but it collects splashes, and once it opens, water can run behind the units. The ends and corners of a worktop, and any joint where the splashback meets the surface, are further weak points.
Worktop to wall sealant and upstand sealant do the same job in different places, and a utility room sealant line round a laundry worktop is no different to the one in the kitchen. Splashbacks have their own issue: they are rigid, and the worktop below is not. That mismatch is exactly where a flexible sealant bead earns its keep.

Prepare the area
Worktop edges are cleared and surfaces protected.
Cut out
Old sealant is cut out completely from every joint.
Clean and dry
Grease, soap and limescale are cleaned off and the joint is dried.
Seal and tool
Flexible sealant is applied and tooled to a crisp, even finish.
Where a joint is wider than normal, backing is used so the sealant depth is right. We do not fit or replace worktops or splashbacks, and we will say so if one has failed beyond what sealant can fix.
Sealant that suits worktops and splashbacks
Joints near sinks and hobs need a mould-resistant, flexible sealant, and the colour matters. We use and apply Everbuild, Dow, Soudal, Bostik and Sika products and match from our sealant colour charts, whether the worktop is white, grey, black, wood effect or stone effect.

What sealant is best for a worktop?
A mould-resistant, flexible sealant in a colour that matches the worktop. We pick the product to suit the surface and how much the joint moves.
Do you seal glass splashbacks?
Yes. We seal glass, tiled and panel splashbacks to the worktop with a flexible bead, neatly tooled.
Can you do a utility room as well?
Yes. Utility rooms and boot rooms are common add-ons to a kitchen visit, and the process is the same.
Do you replace worktops?
No. We seal the joints. Fitting or replacing worktops is a job for a fitter.
