A Nene valley town at a busy junction
Thrapston is a small market town on the River Nene, where the A14 meets the A605, with Islip just across the medieval bridge.
Lakes from old gravel workings line the valley, and the junction has attracted large distribution and industrial buildings. North along the Nene, the stone villages lead to Oundle, with its limestone streets, and on to Fotheringhay and Elton.
